First move: a forced restart

Holding the Power button for 5 to 7 seconds (up to 30 seconds if needed) forces a full restart of the device — that's the very first thing to try.

Check the charge

Plug the phone in and watch: a white light near the top of the screen (on models that have one) indicates the device is charging but the battery is too low to power the screen. If the problem seems to be with charging itself, the dedicated charging troubleshooting steps apply.
