The built-in ND filter on the Fujifilm GFX100RF

An ND filter with nothing extra to add

The GFX100RF has a physical neutral density (ND) filter built directly into the camera body. Turning this setting on reduces exposure by the equivalent of 4 EV (exposure values) — no need to screw an external filter onto the fixed lens to get the effect.

What it's actually useful for

This exposure reduction makes it possible to use slower shutter speeds or wider apertures even with brightly lit subjects. In practice, that opens up options like blurring motion in full daylight, or softening the background with a wide aperture, without risking the overexposure that would normally happen under those conditions.

A tool built for daylight

On a fixed-lens camera with no option to swap to a different lens that takes screw-on filters, this built-in ND filter offers real creative freedom outdoors and in bright sunlight, where exposure settings would otherwise be tightly constrained.
