ASUS ROG Zephyrus G16: what to know about the OLED display
Why simple bending can permanently damage an OLED panel, and the right habits for carrying and handling the laptop day to day.

A panel more fragile to bending than a regular LCD screen
The manufacturer's own technical documentation is explicit on this point: the display should never be bent or flexed, as doing so risks causing an internal leak in the panel — permanent damage, unlike an LCD screen which tolerates slight twisting without lasting consequences. This increased sensitivity to bending is a known trait of OLED technology, not a manufacturing defect.
Closing and carrying the laptop safely
Always close the lid by holding it at the corners rather than pressing on the center of the screen, avoid placing anything heavy on top of the closed laptop, and never carry it in a bag where it could get squeezed between other rigid objects. A carrying sleeve, where included or available as an accessory, protects specifically against this kind of localized pressure.
Cleaning without applying pressure
A soft, slightly damp cloth is enough for the screen, applied with a light touch — never firm pressure, which can have the same effect as bending. Avoid any solvent- or alcohol-based product on the panel itself.
A sign that should raise a flag
If marks, discolored patches, or lines appear on the screen after an impact or pressure, it's better to stop using the laptop and have the panel checked by an authorized center rather than continuing to use it hoping the issue clears up on its own — this kind of damage doesn't repair itself.
