Abnormal screen colors on the Motorola Edge 50: how to fix them

A black-and-white screen, inverted colors, missing tones, dark theme turned on for no reason: exactly where to find each setting to get back to normal.

Abnormal screen colors on the Motorola Edge 50: how to fix them

Everything is in black and white

This is usually the Grayscale option under Bedtime mode being active. Go to Settings > Digital Wellbeing & parental controls > Bedtime mode > Customize > Bedtime display options, then turn grayscale off.

The colors are inverted

This time it's Color inversion, which can be turned on and off via Settings > Accessibility > Color inversion.

Some tones look different or missing

If the screen looks warmer than usual, check the quick settings for Night Light and turn it off. If certain colors look muted or different, go to Settings > Accessibility > Color correction to turn correction off.

The background switched to dark (or light) theme on its own

Go to Settings > Display to turn dark theme off if needed.

Auto-brightness is getting it wrong

Adaptive brightness learns your preferences based on ambient lighting via the light sensor — over time, you should need to touch the slider manually less and less. If it goes off track, go to Settings > Apps > See all apps, then (advanced options) Show system apps, search for Device Help Services, then Storage & cache > Clear storage > Reset adaptive brightness to start fresh. To stop relying on automatic brightness entirely, turn the option off under Settings > Display > Adaptive brightness. One note: if battery saver is active, the screen dims automatically when the battery is low — that's normal behavior, not a display bug.
