Connecting external displays to a Mac mini M2

Up to two external displays

The Mac mini M2 supports connecting up to two external displays, in three possible combinations: a single display at up to 4K resolution at 60 Hz via the HDMI port; a 4K display at 60 Hz on the HDMI port paired with a 6K display at 60 Hz on a Thunderbolt port; or two displays connected solely through the Thunderbolt ports, one at up to 6K at 60 Hz and the other at up to 5K at 60 Hz.

Connection order matters

When multiple displays are connected, connect the one with the highest resolution first — an easy detail to overlook, but one that avoids detection issues or a degraded picture.

Checking your specific model's real capabilities

Configurations differ between the Mac mini M2 and the Mac mini M2 Pro, the latter supporting up to three displays. To confirm your own Mac's exact capabilities, open System Settings, then Help > Mac mini Specifications, and check the Video Support section.
