Battery: optimizing the Galaxy S26 Ultra's battery life

Power saving mode, battery protection, monitoring power-hungry apps: the settings to preserve battery life and battery health.

Battery: optimizing the Galaxy S26 Ultra's battery life

Tracking your day-to-day usage

The Daily usage tab (Settings > Battery) gives a detailed view of the battery level and consumption history, app by app — the starting point for identifying what's really draining your battery life.

Limiting background app consumption

The Background usage limits option restricts consumption by rarely used apps, which sometimes keep running without you noticing. Power saving mode, meanwhile, directly extends available battery life by reducing certain performance settings — activate it as a priority once the battery gets low.

Protecting battery health over the long term

Battery protection lets you cap the maximum charge at a threshold below 100%, or automatically stop charging once the battery is full — a feature that slows the battery's natural aging over several years of use, at the cost of slightly reduced battery life between charges.

Checking your battery's real health status

Battery information (Settings > Battery > Battery information) displays precise data: manufacturing date, first-use date, number of full charge cycles completed, and measured health status. This lets you know objectively where your battery stands, rather than relying solely on a feeling that battery life has gotten shorter.

Sharing your battery with another device

Wireless power sharing turns the back of the phone into a charger for another compatible device (earbuds, smartwatch, another phone) placed against it — handy in a pinch, but use it sparingly since it drains your own battery quickly.

The Zonelectro tip

If you leave the phone plugged in overnight, setting battery protection to a maximum charge of 85% or 90% is the best compromise: daily battery life remains more than sufficient, while noticeably slowing battery wear over time.
